Heddon Dowagiac Casting Bait Slopenose Expert
The # 2 Heddon Dowagiac Casting Bait, also known as the Slope Nose Expert lure, was first introduced by James Heddon & Son in 1902 and was made until around 1904. Heddon Dowagiac Slopenose Expert lures were wooden with no eyes and a metal collar. They had anywhere from two to five hooks. They were advertised as having only a few catalogued colors and some special order colors have also been found.
Heddon #2 Dowagiac Casting Bait lures have been found in a few different colors. Normally the lure's box would have a code that would indicate which color it is. From my research it seems that Slope Nose lures always had the same code of 2. They have been found in these colors.

I buy old lures like the Heddon Dowagiac Casting Bait and vintage old lures from many, many other companies. If you have lures to sell, feel free to contact me. I pay more for old fishing lures than most other collectors out there. Be sure to get in touch with me if you would like a lure appraisal or if you have old lures to sell.
